America has unexpectedly dismissed one of its senior military officials named General Silva. This change comes in the wake of President Donald Trump's decisions to resume extensive attacks on Iran. However, several other senior officials have also been removed from their positions.

Changes in Military Leadership

Following the dismissal of General Silva, other senior military officers such as the heads of the Army, Navy, and Coast Guard, as well as the general who led the National Security Agency, have also been removed from their positions. These developments clearly indicate a structural change in the military leadership of the United States, which, according to Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, is aimed at selecting leaders preferred by the President.

Political and Military Concerns

The U.S. Secretary of Defense has justified this action by pointing to a 20 percent reduction in the number of generals and admirals, aiming to increase accountability within the military forces. He also stated that these changes are intended to focus on warfare rather than the "wokeness" policies of previous administrations. However, some Democratic lawmakers have expressed concerns about the potential politicization of American militarism.

These changes come as the U.S. midterm elections approach and with the possibility of Trump deciding to increase attacks on Iran in the near future. The U.S. President recently indicated that another military action under the title "Epic Fury" might be undertaken, especially after the joint U.S. and Israeli attacks on Tehran last February, which led to heightened tensions.

Since the beginning of September, neither the U.S. nor Iran has engaged in major attacks on ground targets, and it seems they have turned to a pattern of attacks on commercial vessels. Nevertheless, no reason for General Silva's dismissal has been announced. He previously commanded the 101st Airborne Division of the U.S. and has also led a unit in Iraq.
