Cisco will soon bring its set of critical governance infrastructure to India. Chuck Robbins, the President and CEO of the company, mentioned the scale and potential role of India in creating reliable technology systems at the Bloomberg New Economy Forum global meeting.

Development of Governance Infrastructure

Chuck Robbins announced that this set is designed to address countries' concerns regarding data security and operational control, and has previously been launched in several European countries and recently in Canada. He said, "We have created a set of critical governance infrastructure that was launched in several European countries last year. We have recently introduced it in Canada and have not publicly announced it yet, but we will bring this set to India in the coming months."

India's Potential in Technology

Robbins added that India is among the countries that have the necessary scale to develop critical technology capabilities, and its role in the global technology supply chain can be expanded. He referenced Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Minister, regarding technology governance and stated, "India is one of the few countries that has the ability to address some of the mentioned challenges."

According to Robbins, discussions with governments about governance technology are increasingly focused on data retention within national borders and ensuring operational control over systems. He also highlighted the importance of close collaboration between companies and governments to understand concerns and develop solutions that meet their needs.

The CEO of Cisco also spoke about India's potential in designing and manufacturing semiconductors, stating, "The world needs more capacity in this sector. Therefore, a friend like India, which has this capacity, will be welcomed."

Robbins emphasized that different countries need to strike a proper balance between domestic technology capabilities and collaborations, as independently building all technology components can be costly and time-consuming. He also referred to investment records, hiring, manufacturing, and skill development in a country as determining factors in assessing trust.

He described India's approach to developing capabilities in strategic areas while collaborating with reputable companies as a practical way to achieve technology governance. He added that technology issues can be resolved through engineering and industrial collaborations, but geopolitical differences can make progress more challenging.

In this discussion, Ashwini Vaishnaw, the Union Minister, also referred to India's efforts to reduce dependence on critical technologies while maintaining integration with global supply chains.
