Yemeni government forces have faced significant advancements in clashes with Houthi forces near the Saudi Arabia border. Published images show Yemeni forces moving with armored vehicles and trucks in desert areas under heavy fire from war machines.
Claims of Advancements and Houthi Casualties
During these battles, Walid Al-Mahjari, commander of the fifth brigade of Yemeni government forces, announced that Yemeni forces are advancing on the Al-Labanat front and will soon reach Houthi positions. He also claimed that Houthis are retreating and fleeing on all fronts.

Published images from the clashes show Yemeni government forces firing at distant targets and depict the bodies of Houthi forces and their positions, which government forces claim have been abandoned. One soldier named Abu Mithaq stated: "The Al-Masariyah hill has been liberated, as well as the Al-Labanat camp, and the advance towards Al-Tabab Al-Soud continues."
Recent Developments in the Yemen War
The internal war in Yemen has intensified since July, with Houthis rapidly advancing and capturing all Red Sea coasts and strategic islands in the Bab al-Mandab Strait. This group also controls vast areas of northern Yemen, including the capital Sana'a.
Saudi Arabia and the Yemeni government are quickly responding to these attacks, and Saudi airstrikes have failed to halt Houthi advancements. In a video released by the Houthis, their forces are seen moving in the desert with pickup trucks and at one moment firing at an advancing vehicle.
One Houthi fighter in this video says: "Right now, God willing, we are conducting operations to cut off the enemy's path." A separate video released by this group includes footage from a night vision that appears to show a missile being fired at a fighter jet.
Other scenes depict the wreckage of a plane displaying a burnt tail with the Saudi Arabian flag. The Houthis announced on Wednesday that they had shot down a Saudi fighter jet using a locally made missile.
