Ed Sheeran on Tuesday stated in a statement that the removal of Macklemore from his concert tour in the United States was a decision made by the tour organizer, not him. This occurred after Macklemore's remarks at a concert in New Jersey, which included comments about Palestine.
Reactions to Macklemore's Removal
Macklemore was removed from the tour due to his statements in support of Palestinians and the phrase "Free Palestine" that he delivered at the concert on September 4. Some other artists who were part of the tour as supporting artists, including Aaron Rowe and the Danish group Lukas Graham, announced that they would withdraw from the tour in protest of this action and expressed their support for Macklemore.

Ed Sheeran's Position and Its Impacts
Ed Sheeran stated regarding this matter: "The removal of Macklemore from the tour was the organizer's decision, not mine." According to the Messina Touring Group, which is responsible for organizing this tour, venue owners have informed the organizers that they will not allow a concert featuring Macklemore to take place.
Macklemore has always been known for his support of Palestinians and criticism of Israel's military actions in Gaza and the occupation of the West Bank. He also released a song last year titled "Hind's Hall" in memory of a five-year-old Palestinian girl named Hind Rajab who was killed in Gaza by Israeli forces.
Ed Sheeran further added that he respects Macklemore's "willpower" to stand up and express his beliefs, but his approach is to not use his professional platform for political issues. He also clarified that venues for future tour dates have warned that they will cancel concerts if Macklemore is present.
Support for Macklemore from Palestinian advocacy groups, artists, and politicians continues, as they believe his statements in such events draw attention to the problems and suffering of Palestinians. Meanwhile, pro-Israel groups and some artists, including Pink, have criticized him, stating that such remarks may jeopardize the safety of Jewish individuals and Israel supporters at these events.
