Investment in Large Projects
Mohammed Alabbar, founder and chairman of the UAE's Eagle Hills group, stated that tourists will always be attracted to Damascus because it is the oldest city in the world. He also noted the willingness of many Syrians living abroad to return to the country.
Among the number of tourists in the first half of this year, 2.13 million were Syrians living abroad. Meanwhile, Ahmad Al-Shara'a, President of Syria, has made efforts to improve relations with the West and attract billions of dollars for the country's reconstruction.
The Eagle Hills group is planning to develop a project covering 10 million square meters in Damascus and 4.3 million square meters along the coast of Latakia. The group signed an agreement for these two projects with Syria on Monday.
Additionally, the UAE developer, Arada, has announced plans to enter the country with a $7 billion project. Western groups are also actively exploring opportunities in Syria, which are gradually being connected with new flights from Gulf hubs to the country.
