Herschelle Gibbs, former South African cricket player, has proposed changes for the national team's second home test against Australia in Gqeberha. Gibbs emphasized the necessity of changes in the team composition, pointing to the team's poor performance in the previous test and their defeat against Australia.
Gibbs' Suggestions for Improving Team Composition
In this context, Gibbs called for the inclusion of Kagiso Rabada in the lineup and suggested that Ryan Rickelton be moved lower in the batting order to take on wicketkeeping duties. The national team captain, Temba Bavuma, is facing a serious challenge after suffering a defeat in his previous test, ending a 12-match unbeaten streak. In this test, South Africa failed to chase down a total of 421 in their second innings, losing by 206 runs.

Analysis of Player Performances and Reasons for Defeat
In this match, Matt Renshaw had an outstanding performance with 190 runs off 397 balls, helping the Australian team reach a total of 390 runs. Additionally, the Australian bowling attack, particularly Pat Cummins, Mitchell Starc, and Josh Hazlewood, put significant pressure on the South African batsmen. The absence of Rabada, who could not participate due to a hamstring injury, was also a key factor in this defeat.
Gibbs believes that with Rabada's inclusion, the bowling attack could consist of three fast bowlers, namely Marco Jansen and Anrich Nortje, along with all-rounder Wayne Parnell and spinner Keshav Maharaj. He also called for the replacement of Kyle Verreynne with Marcus Ackermann, a player who has yet to gain experience at the national level.
Verreynne is currently in a tough situation, having failed to score above 50 in his last eight tests. The last time he scored a century was in January last year against Pakistan. Since then, he has only accumulated 220 runs from 13 innings, with an average of 20.
Rickelton has also not scored above 50 since making 71 runs against Pakistan last October. In 12 tests, he has only managed to score above 50 twice, raising concerns for the South African coaching staff.
