Sotiris Manolopoulos, the head coach of the Iran national basketball team, emphasized the necessity of mental calmness and physical readiness ahead of his team's crucial match against South Korea. According to him, the Iran team has reached this stage in a condition that requires reassessment and correction to deliver a better performance.

Upcoming Challenges and the Necessity of Recovery

Manolopoulos, in an interview before this match, referred to the difficult conditions of the team. He noted: "We did not come to Nagoya in a good state of self-belief; we had lost in the last two games, especially the match against New Zealand, which is a very good team and at the level of Australia. We lost to them in overtime."

He also addressed the recovery issues after the match with the Philippines, adding: "We were not adequately prepared for a physical game. We did not perform well in the first game against Qatar and lost. However, after that game, we held many team and individual sessions to motivate the players and remind them that nothing is over yet. I think since that day, we have competed more and become a more competitive team."

Absence of Key Players and Hope in Youth

The head coach of the Iran national basketball team also explained the absence of several key players: "The situation was not good for us, and we lost some important players. However, the positive point was that the players who came off the bench showed their best version and filled in for the absent players. Now we are among the top four teams, and this is a significant achievement."

Manolopoulos, referring to the upcoming competitions, added: "The most important thing is to strive for recovery and calm our minds. South Korea is a team with its own style of play and has made significant progress over the past year. We must be ready to compete with them."

Challenges with Bahrain and Preparation for the Semifinals

He continued, discussing the recent match of the Iran national team against Bahrain in the quarterfinals: "Yesterday's game against Bahrain was very tough for us. Bahrain has made good investments and has recruited players from the NBA. I know their coach from Greece, and he is a very experienced coach. This game took a lot of energy from us; therefore, it is important to be prepared and energized for tomorrow's match against South Korea."

The head coach of the Iran national basketball team concluded by noting that despite the existing challenges, the team's determination and will to achieve success remain strong, and they hope to advance to the next stage with an outstanding performance against South Korea.
