Ryoshi Akazawa, Japan's Minister of Trade and Industry, referred on Friday to translation errors on Platform X that could lead to diplomatic problems. In his press conference, the Japanese minister stated that the automatic translation of his posts made it seem as though he did not recognize the names of global leaders. This issue arose particularly after his meeting with Bangladesh's Prime Minister, Tariq Rahman.
Translation Errors and Their Consequences
Akazawa explained that his original post in Japanese contained images from his meeting with Tariq Rahman, but the English translation mistakenly mentioned Sheikh Hasina, the former Prime Minister of Bangladesh, as someone he had met. Akazawa said: "This is really serious. People in Bangladesh might think that Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade, and Industry doesn't even know who our current Prime Minister is."

Recurrent Translation Issues
This is not the first time Akazawa has faced such problems. He further explained that after posting about his online meeting with Kuwait's Oil Minister, Tariq Al-Ruwaihi, the translation mistakenly stated that he had met with Qatar's Energy Minister. Additionally, in the translation of a post related to a meeting with Howard Lutnick, the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, an incorrect name was mentioned. Akazawa emphasized: "I have experienced these three times and have asked Platform X to correct this tool."
Platform X has not yet responded to requests regarding this issue. The Japanese minister expressed concern over these errors, stressing the importance of accuracy in automatic translations and their potential consequences for diplomatic relations. In today's world, where international communications are rapidly taking place, such mistakes can have long-lasting effects on interactions between countries.
