Jordan arrested three suspects on Monday in connection with a gun attack on a church in the city of Karak that occurred last week, resulting in the deaths of nine people and injuring dozens. King Abdullah II described the attack as terrorist and raised many questions about the suspects' connections to extremist groups.
Details of the Suspects' Arrest
In a press conference on Monday, the head of the Public Security Directorate, Major General Abdullah Al-Maaitah, announced that security personnel tracked the three suspects to an abandoned house in a region near Al-Judayyda after a wide search. When officers asked them to surrender, the suspects opened fire, leading to a response from security forces and the injury of all three before their arrest. The Public Security Directorate released images of the injured suspects following the operation.

Analysis of the Operation and Family Structure of the Suspects
Al-Maaitah stated that none of the security personnel were harmed in the operation. He explained that the three men were from one family; two were brothers, and the third was related to them. He also noted that the attack did not appear to be seriously premeditated, although one of the brothers was responsible for organizing it.
This incident highlights the security challenges in Jordan and the need to strengthen security measures against terrorist threats. Given the history of similar attacks in the country, Jordanian authorities are looking to conduct a deeper investigation into the case and identify any potential connections the suspects may have with extremist groups. In this regard, international cooperation and information exchange with other countries could also help enhance security and prevent such incidents from occurring.
