Jos Buttler, former captain of the England national cricket team, announced his determination to return to the field after undergoing surgery on his left hamstring. This injury occurred during England's One Day International (ODI) matches against Sri Lanka last month.
Details of the Injury and Surgery
Buttler, who is 36 years old, sustained the injury on September 24 during the second ODI at Headingley. He initially left the field due to pain but quickly returned to play. This injury has ruled him out of the upcoming tri-series in Pakistan, which the England national team is set to travel to soon. Additionally, Buttler is expected to miss the upcoming tour of Australia in November.
Efforts for Recovery and Strong Determination
Buttler shared news of his surgery in an Instagram post on Monday, showing a photo of himself in a hospital bed with his hand raised. He enthusiastically stated, "The surgery was successful, and I am on the road to recovery. I feel more motivated than ever!" This statement reflects Buttler's serious determination to return to the field and continue his professional career.
Buttler's injury has abruptly ended a brilliant period for the player. After a difficult stint in the T20 World Cup in India, where he only managed to score 87 runs, he significantly returned to form, scoring 466 runs in his next nine international matches. Among these performances, he had an outstanding game with 69 runs off 49 balls, which included five sixes, and he sustained the hamstring injury in that same match.
Later on Monday, Buttler and Adil Rashid, another experienced player of the England national cricket team, extended their one-year contracts with the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB). This extension means that Buttler's current contract will end before the start of next year's 50-over World Cup in South Africa.
