LeBron James, the 41-year-old basketball star and all-time leading scorer in NBA history, has started his 24th season with the Philadelphia 76ers. James, who is looking to win his fifth championship title, is working with his new teammates to bring a championship to Philadelphia, a team that last won the NBA championship in 1983.
James' Goals for the New Season
In an interview, James noted that his motivation for continuing to play is not money or fame, but rather the desire to compete and feel the thrill of victory in the NBA. He said, "I want to sacrifice, work hard, and compete. I am looking for the feeling that comes with another championship." James, who has won the NBA Most Valuable Player award four times during his career, recently parted ways with the Los Angeles Lakers and joined Philadelphia.

New Agreement and Team Goals
On July 24, James announced that he was heading to Philadelphia, and two days later, the team signed a two-year contract worth $8 million with him. He hopes to bring the championship title to Philadelphia for the first time alongside his teammates, including Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey. James is also working to assist Embiid, his teammate on the 2024 Olympic team, in his quest for his first championship.
In his first preseason game for the 76ers, James scored 10 points, provided 5 assists, and grabbed 4 rebounds in a 114-108 loss to the Brooklyn Nets. He expressed that playing in a new uniform feels different and said, "We are still trying to get each other on the court to be successful. But this takes time."
James also emphasized the need for hard work and sacrifice within the team, stating, "No one in the locker room wants their career to go this way. We need to set aside comfort and work even in tough conditions to achieve the greatest successes."
He stressed the importance of continuous effort for improvement, adding, "If we want to achieve something special, it requires time and sacrifice. I didn't come here to lose in the second round. Work needs to be done, and I am ready to do it."
