Majid Al-Ansari, the spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, strongly rejected the allegations of this country’s interference in Israel's elections, considering it an attempt by Israeli politicians to use Qatar as bait to cover up their political failures.
Rejection of Interference Allegations
Qatar has explicitly denied any interference in Israel's elections or funding activities aimed at influencing the results of these elections, pointing to efforts by some Israeli politicians and media figures who are trying to drag Doha into Israel's internal political conflicts.
In a post that Al-Ansari published on the social media platform X, he described these allegations as "ridiculous and dangerous" and referred to them as part of a baseless campaign against Qatar following the recent Israeli elections. He wrote: "We respond negatively to the allegations made by some Israeli politicians and their communications in the media, who again attempt to drag Qatar into Israel's political conflicts."
Call to Focus on Domestic Issues
Al-Ansari further clarified that the allegations range from claims of buying the loyalty of Benjamin Netanyahu to funding the left-wing in Israel and influencing Arab voters. In this regard, he stated: "If these allegations were true, it would seem that Qatar has control over all of Israel."
The spokesperson emphasized: "Qatar should not be used as bait for the political failures of some Israeli politicians" and urged Israeli politicians to focus on their voters and work on improving the daily lives of the people.
Al-Ansari also stressed that Qatar has had no interference in Israel's political or electoral competitions and will not accept any attempts to drag it into internal conflicts. He called on any government that emerges from the recent elections to respect international laws and relevant UN resolutions and to seriously address the Palestinian issue and respect the right of the Palestinian people to self-determination.
Qatar also supports the establishment of an independent Palestinian state within the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital. Al-Ansari concluded by noting: "None of these issues will divert us from our important role as mediators, our diplomatic and humanitarian efforts, our support for the Palestinian people, and our commitment to a just and comprehensive peace and regional stability."
These statements by Al-Ansari come as Israel awaits the final results of its parliamentary elections on October 27, with neither Netanyahu's bloc nor the opposition able to secure a majority in the 120-seat Knesset.
