In recent weeks, attacks by the Houthis in Yemen, who are aligned with Iran, have increased, and tensions between Washington and Tehran have intensified. Additionally, the two countries are planning to resume a broader conflict, likely after the U.S. midterm elections on November 3.
Topics of Discussion and Future Negotiations
Ismail Baqaei, spokesperson for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, announced that discussions at this meeting will cover regional security issues, including "Israel's expansionist policies, developments in Palestinian territories and Lebanon, and the consequences of U.S. and Israeli military actions against Iran."
He added that this meeting, proposed by Marshal Munir during his recent visit to Tehran, could be the first step towards establishing regional security mechanisms based on the interests of the countries in the region.
While Qatari mediators have recently met with Iranian officials in Tehran, the aim of these meetings is to reduce regional tensions. Qatar has been playing a mediating role between Tehran and Washington for several months.
An Iranian senior official stated that this meeting was initiated by Pakistan during Munir's visit to Tehran. In this meeting, Iranian officials informed him that no discussions with Washington would take place until Tehran's demands are met.
Additionally, Saudi Arabia's Minister of Defense, Prince Khalid, and officials from other countries will come to Tehran for consultations with Iran's Supreme National Security Council. This meeting reflects the ongoing efforts of the Makkah Pact countries to alleviate existing crises and support diplomatic solutions.
