Vladimir Putin, the President of Russia, met with Mohsen Rezaei, the senior security official of the Islamic Republic of Iran, in the Kremlin. This meeting followed negotiations between Iranian negotiators and mediators to review proposals aimed at ending hostilities with the United States.

Important Discussions on Regional Security

Rezaei conveyed a message from Ayatollah Mojtaba Khamenei, the leader of the Islamic Republic of Iran, to Putin during this meeting. After the session, Rezaei stated, "Important regional issues were discussed with Mr. Putin, and meaningful conversations took place regarding the post-war period and regional security arrangements." His reference was to the ongoing war between Iran and the United States.

Rezaei also mentioned the construction of a gas pipeline from Russia to Iran, aimed at addressing Iran's gas shortages and enabling the sale of Russian gas to Iran's neighboring countries. This project, as a strategic collaboration, could help strengthen economic relations between the two countries.

Diplomatic Challenges and Iran's Conditions

Ayatollah Khamenei has emphasized in a written statement that "there should not be the slightest inclination to surrender to the United States." Efforts for peace have focused on the future status of the Strait of Hormuz, the blockade of Iranian ports by the United States, sanctions against the Islamic Republic, and the resumption of negotiations regarding Tehran's nuclear program.

A senior Iranian official announced this week that the two sides are still far apart. Rezaei added, "However, we have told him [Putin] that we have communicated seven conditions to the Americans regarding diplomacy, and until these seven conditions are met, we will not only not open the Strait of Hormuz but will also not engage in any negotiations." These statements reflect Iran's strong position against international pressures and its continued efforts to maintain the country's independence and security.
