In a significant step towards sustainable development, Muscat Municipality announced the integration of electric motorcycles into its daily cleaning services. This action aims to reduce carbon emissions, lower operational costs, and enhance the efficiency of urban services.
Features of Electric Motorcycles
The new motorcycles are designed with an operational range of 140 to 160 kilometers and utilize high-safety Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) batteries with a total capacity of 5.6 kilowatt-hours. These types of batteries are considered suitable for urban services due to their durability and high safety.

Technology and Fleet Management
The motorcycles are equipped with Internet of Things (IoT) technology and SIM card connectivity, enabling real-time tracking and fleet management. In the first phase of this project, battery swapping stations will be established at three key locations including Al Qurm, Al Ghubra, and Souq Al Khoud. Ultimately, this project will include 14 battery swapping stations, which will enhance efficiency and facilitate cleaning services.
This initiative not only contributes to reducing air pollution and improving the quality of life for citizens but can also serve as a model for other cities in terms of sustainable management and the use of renewable energy. Muscat Municipality, as a leader in this field, is striving to provide better services to citizens by utilizing modern and environmentally friendly technologies.
