The National Stock Exchange of India (NSE) managed to attract around ₹6,746 crore from its anchor investors prior to its initial public offering (IPO). This fundraising involved participation from Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), the Global Government Pension Fund, the Monetary Authority of Singapore, and several domestic and foreign institutional investors.
Share Allocation to Anchor Investors
According to reports from the National Stock Exchange of India, the company has allocated 37,793,739 equity shares to anchor investors at an allocation price of ₹1,785 per share, totaling ₹6,746.18 crore.

Life Insurance Corporation of India is recognized as the largest individual investor among the anchor investors, having allocated 22,425,584 equity shares, which constitutes 5.93% of the total allocation, valued at approximately ₹400.30 crore.
Presence of Prominent Investors
Other notable investors include the Global Government Pension Fund, the Monetary Authority of Singapore, the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority, funds managed by Fidelity, Goldman Sachs, Eastspring Investments India, Carmignac Portfolio, and Morgan Stanley. Additionally, several domestic mutual funds and insurance companies have also participated in this allocation.
Domestic mutual funds have accounted for a significant portion of the main investment book. The National Stock Exchange of India has announced that out of the 37,793,739 shares allocated to anchor investors, 13,977,524 shares (equivalent to 36.98% of the total allocation to anchor investors) have been allocated to 29 domestic mutual funds that applied through 98 schemes.
Role of Insurance Companies and Pension Funds
Life insurance companies and pension funds are also among the major players in the main allocation. In addition to LIC, other notable names on this list include SBI Life Insurance, HDFC Life Insurance, SBI Pension Funds, HDFC Pension Fund, Axis Max Life Insurance, UTI Pension Fund, and Kotak Mahindra Life Insurance.
According to the exchange, out of the 37,793,739 shares allocated to anchor investors, 6,060,744 shares (equivalent to 16.04% of the total allocation to anchor investors) have been allocated to 27 insurance companies and pension funds.
Future Plans of the National Stock Exchange of India
The exchange's report indicates that the Global Government Pension Fund has received shares worth approximately ₹250 crore, while the Monetary Authority of Singapore and the Abu Dhabi Investment Authority each received allocations worth about ₹200 crore. The main allocation occurs ahead of the National Stock Exchange of India's initial public offering, which is set to open for public registration on Thursday, September 17. This offer will be entirely a sale and is priced in the range of ₹1,700 to ₹1,785 per share.
