The Oman Investment Authority (OIA) has made a new investment in future and space technologies to strengthen its presence in the space technology sector. This investment is made through the Spanish-Omani Private Investment Fund II in collaboration with the Spanish company PLD Space, which specializes in space transportation.
Collaboration with PLD Space
PLD Space signed a cooperation agreement with the Atlaq Spaceport in Duqm on February 20, 2025, to launch its Miura 5 rocket from the Sultanate of Oman. This action follows the completion of the necessary commercial and technical studies to assess the feasibility of the launch. The company, founded in 2011 by Spanish entrepreneurs Raúl Torres and Raúl Verdú, is based in Elche, Alicante, Spain.
