The awareness workshop on "Shared Government Services and Electronic Integration" held by the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology of Oman in Salalah emphasized the necessity of enhancing the use of shared government services. This two-day workshop examined the importance of adopting a government integration platform for data exchange between entities and identifying specific technical points of contact.

Emphasis on the Use of National Infrastructures

At the conclusion of this workshop, which ended on Tuesday, participants emphasized the need to enhance the use of integrated support contracts for Microsoft and Oracle products, organize mechanisms for technical support requests, and conduct periodic inventories of needs and actual usage of licenses. Timely planning for future needs and adherence to licensing requirements were also emphasized. Additionally, monitoring usage and cost indicators to achieve the best value from integrated government agreements was suggested.

Oman's Digital Government Infrastructure

Nuzha Mohammed Al-Mahrouqi, Director of Shared Infrastructure at the Ministry, stated that the "Oman Government Network" is one of the main pillars of the digital government infrastructure, providing a unified, secure, and reliable environment for connecting government entities. This network allows entities to access shared government services and efficiently exchange data. This contributes to increased security and reliability, as well as supporting the continuity of digital services and integration among government entities.

Marwa Karim Dad Al-Raisi, Head of the Digital Platforms Department at the Ministry, announced that the "National Government Platform for Electronic Integration" facilitates connection between government entities and the secure and organized exchange of data and services. This workshop also included a presentation from Oman Telecommunications (Omantel) and a presentation from OTEK about cloud services.

The workshop concluded by emphasizing the importance of continued coordination among government entities, activating shared services, and leveraging existing digital infrastructures to develop government services and accelerate the digital transformation process in the Sultanate of Oman. This workshop was part of the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology's efforts to strengthen electronic integration among government entities and support digital transformation.
