Oman's Supreme Judiciary Council was the host of a periodic meeting of change management teams for government digital transformation on Tuesday. This meeting was held in collaboration with the Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology and included various teams from government entities in the field of digital transformation and change management.
Purpose of the Meeting and Its Importance
The holding of this meeting was aimed at strengthening cooperation and integration among government entities as well as exchanging experiences and knowledge in the field of change management. The purpose of this meeting is to support the goals of government digital transformation, enhance the readiness of entities to keep pace with technological changes, and promote a culture of development and innovation within the entities.
Isa Hamad Al-Azri, Secretary-General of the Supreme Judiciary Council, emphasized in his opening speech the importance of digital transformation as a comprehensive change in work methods, organizational culture, and service delivery mechanisms. He pointed out that change management is one of the main factors for the success of digital transformation initiatives and the sustainability of their results, and this is achievable through engaging human capacities, building trust, increasing awareness, and empowering employees.
Challenges and Opportunities in the Path of Digital Transformation
This transformation is considered a fundamental pillar for developing the judiciary system, increasing its efficiency, and enhancing the quality of judicial and legal services. The ultimate goal is to increase speed and transparency and facilitate access to services for stakeholders and litigations. Al-Azri also noted that the Council's efforts in this area have contributed to creating a flexible and sustainable work ecosystem that enables the provision of services and operations 24/7.
As part of the meeting program, a panel discussion titled "Digital Transformation in the Judiciary System" was held, which examined experiences and methods related to the development of judicial work and the impact of modern technologies on improving procedures and services. In this panel, the experience of remote trials and its role in developing the judicial work system was introduced.
The meeting program included several working papers that addressed various topics, including planning and execution from a leadership perspective, leadership during change, and the role of leadership in creating psychological safety during digital transformations. Additionally, organizational culture, challenges facing change processes, mechanisms for measuring change management efforts, and the importance of placing people at the center of transformation were discussed.
The ultimate goal of this meeting is to strengthen communications and knowledge sharing among change management teams in government entities, leverage successful experiences, and align efforts towards achieving a sustainable digital transformation rooted in enhancing the performance of entities and improving the quality of government services.
