About three hours later, Bunsun, despite a slow start in the finals, gradually took control of his rhythm and surged ahead with incredible speed midway through the race. Ultimately, he crossed the finish line with a time of 9.90 seconds, setting a new Asian Games record for himself.
Future Goals and Challenges
After this victory, Bunsun announced that his next goal is to break Su's Asian record of 9.83 seconds. This remarkable performance in Nagoya is just one chapter in his success story that began in his teenage years.
Born in 2006, Porpol Bunsun became an emerging star at the SEA Games 2021 in Vietnam by winning gold medals in the 100 meters, 200 meters, and 4x100 meters relay. At the U20 World Championships in Colombia, he set the youth Asian record with a time of 10.09 seconds in the 100 meters semifinals, attracting global attention.
At the 2023 Hangzhou Asian Games, Bunsun established himself as one of Asia's top athletes by winning a silver medal in the 100 meters. Despite these successes, he remains unfazed by the psychological pressures of public expectations and focuses solely on improving his performance.
This young athlete is still on the path to progress, and at just 20 years old, he has more opportunities to win medals and break records with the 200 meters and 4x100 meters relay ahead.
