Qatar, as one of the leading countries in the field of human rights, emphasized its efforts to integrate human rights principles into government educational programs during a meeting held at the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva. This session was held on the occasion of the fifteenth anniversary of the Declaration on Human Rights Education and Training.
Emphasis on the Importance of Human Rights Education
Abdulaziz Mohammed Al-Mansouri, Third Secretary of Qatar's Permanent Mission to the UN Office in Geneva, stated at this meeting that education and training are fundamental factors for promoting and protecting human rights. He emphasized that these efforts should be conducted with consideration of the national, cultural, and religious contexts of each country and urged countries to exchange their experiences and best practices in various cultural fields.

Al-Mansouri referred to Qatar's efforts in integrating human rights principles into school curricula and mentioned that the country has also implemented formal and informal education programs. Additionally, Qatar has taken steps to raise awareness and establish specialized human rights offices in several ministries and government agencies.
Qatar's Role in Human Rights Education at the Regional Level
Human rights education in Qatar's educational system is designed through specialized subjects, extracurricular activities, and educational materials that help introduce civil, political, and economic rights to students. The Ministry of Education and Higher Education of Qatar, in collaboration with the National Human Rights Committee, has organized educational programs and workshops for students, teachers, and administrators to enhance awareness and translate knowledge into practical skills.
In addition to domestic efforts, Qatar is also home to the UN Human Rights Education and Documentation Center for South-West Asia and the Arab region. This center, which has been operating in Doha since 2009, is under the supervision of the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and collaborates with governments, national human rights institutions, and civil society at the regional level.
The work of this center focuses on human rights education, knowledge management, and raising awareness of international human rights standards, giving Qatar a regional role in promoting awareness and understanding of these rights.
Discussions on Tuesday were held on the occasion of the fifteenth anniversary of the adoption of the Declaration on Human Rights Education and Training in 2011 by the UN General Assembly. This declaration has called on member states to promote human rights education and training in schools, professional environments, and private institutions to create broader awareness of fundamental rights and freedoms.
