Qatar, as a key mediator in the negotiations between Iran and the United States, remains hopeful that the two countries can reach an agreement. Majid Al-Ansari, advisor to the Prime Minister and spokesperson for the Qatari Ministry of Foreign Affairs, emphasized in a press conference on Tuesday that both sides are committed to diplomacy and are reviewing the proposals presented.

Qatar's Diplomatic Efforts

Al-Ansari stated at this press conference that a Qatari delegation returned to Tehran on Monday night after meeting with Iranian officials. This meeting, which lasted more than three hours, was initially scheduled to last one hour and aimed to bring the positions of the United States and Iran closer to a common agreement.

He explained that the ongoing mediation efforts reflect the willingness of both sides to engage and cooperate. Al-Ansari stated: "Both sides are committed to the diplomatic path through engagement with us and others in the region."

Challenges Ahead and the Need for Stability in the Region

In response to questions about the recent U.S. attack on Iran's Qeshm Island, Al-Ansari warned that escalating tensions could pose a threat to regional security and complicate ongoing diplomatic negotiations. He said: "Any escalation of tensions in the region represents a threat to the entire area."

Al-Ansari also emphasized the importance of preventing further tensions and striving for a diplomatic agreement, stating that Qatar has no bias in the negotiations and its priority is to secure a peaceful solution.

Referring to the attack on the LNG ship Al-Midha, he stressed that threats against navigation in the waters of the Gulf are unacceptable and that Qatar does not tolerate such threats. Al-Ansari also mentioned Qatar's close coordination with the Gulf Cooperation Council and other regional partners, saying: "We cooperate almost hourly with our neighbors and international partners for consultations."

In conclusion, Al-Ansari reiterated Qatar's support for the legitimate government of Yemen and condemned the Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia. These statements reflect Qatar's commitment to stability and security in the Gulf region and its diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions.
