Sheikh Jawan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee (QOC) and the Olympic Council of Asia (OCA), visited the main and international media centers of the Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games in Japan. This visit was aimed at supporting journalists and media in covering one of the largest sporting events in Asia.

Facilities and Services for Media

During this visit, Sheikh Jawan and Kristin Coventry, President of the International Olympic Committee (IOC), toured facilities such as workshops, studios, and broadcasting facilities. These centers are designed to provide services to media and journalists from across Asia and the world, enabling them to easily cover events and quickly disseminate news.

Meeting with Young Journalists

Sheikh Jawan and Coventry also met with nine young journalists who participated in a program from the Olympic Council of Asia as part of the "Asian Games for All" initiative. In this meeting, they discussed their experiences in covering these games and the role of this program in developing the next generation of sports journalists. This program helps young journalists enhance their skills in covering sports events through practical experiences.

This visit coincides with the opening of the 20th edition of the Asian Games, in which Qatar is participating with a delegation of 427 members, including 243 athletes. The Qatari team will compete in 26 sports and 32 disciplines through 18 national federations.

The Aichi-Nagoya 2026 Asian Games will continue until October 4, with approximately 11,000 athletes from 45 countries and regions participating. These games are also held four years prior to hosting the 2030 Asian Games in Doha. Qatar has previously hosted these games in 2006 and 2030 and is preparing to bring them back to its capital in December 2030.

To showcase Qatar's culture and sports history and the country's preparations for Doha 2030, the Qatar Olympic Committee has also opened the Qatar House at the TIAD Hotel in Nagoya.
