Rabada's Absence and Nortje's Return
Kagiso Rabada, a key player in South Africa's bowling attack, has been sidelined from the team due to ongoing recovery from injury. On the other hand, Anrich Nortje returns to the team for the first time since his last appearance in a Test match against the West Indies in 2023.
The Proteas have selected a balanced lineup for the first Test, which includes experienced players and emerging talents. Temba Bavuma has been chosen as the team's captain, alongside key players Aiden Markram, Ryan Rickelton, David Bedingham, and Tristan Stubbs in the batting order.
All-rounders Wiaan Mulder and Marco Jansen contribute to the team's balance, while Kyle Verreynne takes on the wicketkeeping duties. The team's bowling attack will feature two spin bowlers, Keshav Maharaj and Simon Harmer, along with the pace of Anrich Nortje and Marco Jansen.
It is worth noting that Rabada has not played any matches at any level since playing for Gujarat Titans in the Indian Premier League (IPL) at the end of May.
Final South African Team Lineup
The final South African team lineup for the first Test is as follows: Aiden Markram, Ryan Rickelton, David Bedingham, Temba Bavuma, Tristan Stubbs, Wiaan Mulder, Kyle Verreynne, Marco Jansen, Simon Harmer, Keshav Maharaj, and Anrich Nortje.
