The Sultanate of Oman, representing the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, as well as the National Archives and Records Authority, participated in the 2026 Abu Dhabi International Book Fair in its thirty-fifth edition. This fair, which started today and will continue until September 18, is a great opportunity to introduce the richness of Omani culture and literature.
Cultural Richness at the Fair
Oman's pavilion at this fair includes a collection of encyclopedic works published by the Ministry of Culture and the National Archives and Records Authority. These works address the most important aspects of Oman's history, identity, language, and national memory, and also include various research and studies. Additionally, selected works from the cultural club have been displayed in this pavilion, relating to literature, thought, criticism, and cultural studies.
Cultural Collaborations and Strengthening Communications
Oman's participation in this fair is not limited to the government but also includes publications and works released by several civil society institutions and Omani publishers. This initiative demonstrates a national convergence in support of the country's cultural and intellectual industry and emphasizes the important role of both private and public sectors in enriching Oman's scientific and cultural productions.
Oman's participation in the Abu Dhabi International Book Fair aims to strengthen the cultural presence of this country in regional and international arenas. This initiative helps advance Oman's position as a key player in the Arab cultural scene and also leads to the wider dissemination of Omani intellectual and scientific works for readers and researchers.
Moreover, this fair provides an opportunity to strengthen communications and knowledge exchange with participating Arab and international publishers and cultural institutions. The Abu Dhabi fair will also serve as a platform to showcase Oman's achievements in the fields of documentation, archiving, and preserving national memory.
It is noteworthy that Balkan culture has been introduced as the special guest of this edition of the Abu Dhabi fair, and the slogan of this fair is "Let’s Turn the Page and Read the World."
