Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua celebrated the start of the countdown to a long-awaited battle at a press conference ahead of their heavyweight fight in London. The two British champions are set to face each other on December 11 in Cardiff.
Mutual Respect on the Brink of Battle
The presence of these two great fighters before a crowd of 1,000 fans led to mutual respect and acknowledgment of each other's careers instead of creating tension and fireworks. Fury, who refers to himself as the "Gypsy King," responded to criticisms, stating that this fight is not only a sporting competition but also a milestone in two great professional lives.
He stated, "People say this fight is long overdue. But this battle will be the ultimate sweetness for two great careers, and we will compete in front of 80,000 people. May the best man win."
A Fight to Inspire Generations
Joshua also emphasized the importance of holding this competition on British soil, stating that it could inspire future generations. He added, "I am truly grateful for this opportunity, and bringing this competition to Britain will lead people in pubs to debate the winner, and even family members may disagree. We can inspire this generation and future generations. It was the people from this country who supported us. I want to fulfill my destiny before I leave this world."
Throughout his career, Tyson Fury has achieved 36 victories out of 39 fights and has held the WBC, WBO, and IBF titles during his colorful career. His only defeats came in two world championship bouts in 2024 against Oleksandr Usyk. On the other hand, Anthony Joshua has 30 victories out of 34 fights and has held the WBO and IBF titles at various stages, suffering defeats against Usyk twice in 2021 and 2022.
The fight between these two British stars holds great significance for sports fans worldwide and is expected to become one of the most exciting sporting events.
