The value added of active private sector jobs in Oman reached 10.655 billion Omani Rial (OMR) in the second quarter of 2026, showing a significant growth of 31.2% compared to 8.124 billion Omani Rial in the same period of 2025. This information was published by the National Center for Statistics and Information of Oman.

Decrease in the Number of Active Private Sector Jobs

However, the number of active private sector jobs in Oman experienced a decrease of 4.6%, reaching 269,714 units. In the second quarter of 2025, the number of active private sector jobs was 282,764 units. This decrease in the number of jobs may indicate challenges faced by the private sector and necessitates further examination in economic and social areas.

Growth in Gross Domestic Product

Oman's Gross Domestic Product also grew by 25.6% during this period, reaching 12.869 billion Omani Rial. This significant growth indicates an improvement in the economic conditions of the country and the positive impact of the increase in the value added of private sector jobs on Oman's macroeconomy. In fact, this increase in GDP can be seen as a positive sign towards attracting more investments and strengthening economic growth in the future.

In terms of the labor market, the total number of employees in active private sector jobs also increased by 1.4%, reaching 1,827,518 individuals, indicating the creation of new job opportunities and an improvement in the labor market situation in Oman. This increase in the number of employees can be considered a motivating factor for investors and entrepreneurs and can contribute to sustainable economic development.

Overall, the increase in the value added of active private sector jobs and the growth in GDP indicate a positive trend in Oman's economy. However, the decrease in the number of active jobs should be addressed, and there is a need for strategies to strengthen the private sector and create sustainable employment.
