Americans are getting ready to participate in the midterm elections on Tuesday, as Donald Trump's four-year presidential term approaches its midpoint. The Republican Party is fighting to maintain its majority in the Senate and gain control of Congress.
Early Voting Status
Early voting began in September and will continue until the midterm elections on November 3. The timing and procedures for voting vary by state and region, and this election is highly significant as it will determine the fate of the remainder of Trump's presidency.

Available data from the University of Florida's election lab shows that the number of people who have voted early has surpassed nine million. All 435 seats in the House of Representatives are up for grabs in this election, and Republicans are working to maintain their slim majority.
Senate and House Competitions
This election includes 35 of the 100 Senate seats, where members serve for six years. Republicans are defending 22 seats and Democrats are defending 13 seats. In the House of Representatives, Republicans hold a narrow majority with 218 seats compared to 214 for Democrats.
The current Senate consists of 53 Republicans, 45 Democrats, and two independents who caucus with the Democrats. The midterm elections give the winner the opportunity to pass laws, approve spending, and exercise oversight over management.
In Texas, known as a Republican stronghold, tight races are taking shape. Republican Attorney General Ken Paxton is competing against Democrat James Talarico for the seat currently held by Republican Senator John Cornyn. In Michigan, Democrat Abdul El-Sayed and Republican Mike Rogers are competing for the vacant seat of Democrat Gary Peters.
Economic concerns also have a significant impact on voters' choices. Poll results show that 84 percent of registered voters consider the economy as their primary decision-making factor. Additionally, rising gas prices and inflation have raised many concerns for voters.
Any potential military action by the United States against Iran has also influenced public opinion, as polls indicate strong opposition to war. This issue seems likely to be a decisive factor in the midterm elections.
