The third scientific conference in Dhofar, organized by the Research and Innovation Organization in collaboration with the University of Technology and Applied Sciences (UTAS) in Salalah, announced the final results of the winning teams in the research studies path. This scientific conference, which brought together a group of researchers and academics from higher education institutions and research centers in Oman, is recognized as an important event in promoting science and technology in the country.
Achievements of the Winners
At the closing ceremony, a visual display of the conference activities and recognition of the first-place winners, the judging panel, and the organizing committee was presented. The results of this conference led to the victory of the oil spill challenge study team, which included researchers Khadija Salem Alhasani, Noora Almoor Alghabashi, and Bushra Mohammed Alkalbani, and was supervised by Dr. Zakia Said Al-Amri.

Research Achievements and Challenges
The tourism pressure challenge study team also secured second place. This study was conducted by a team consisting of Muni Khamis Alalawi, Reem Saleh Alharasi, Badriya Khamis Alfaliti, and Oud Hamis Aljabri, and was supervised by Dr. Noor Masoud Kashoub. The results of these studies were reviewed by a thorough evaluation panel that included several experts and specialists, considering criteria such as research methodology, quality of visual presentations, and effectiveness of practical recommendations.
Dr. Nasreen Yahya Albalushi, head of the Research and Innovation Capabilities Management Department at the Research and Innovation Organization, emphasized that the success of the third scientific conference in Dhofar is a significant milestone in leveraging scientific research and innovation to serve the community and address developmental challenges in the Dhofar region.
She also explained that the strategic path of scientific research at the conference, which was held in collaboration with the Chair of Strategic Technical Studies, focused on identifying several critical challenges. These challenges include economic issues, support for small and medium enterprises, oil spill management, management of tourism pressure in the Khareef season, water resource management, sustainable agriculture, and preservation of intangible cultural heritage.
Dr. Albalushi noted that the true value of this path is not limited to the triumph of the winning teams but lies in the knowledge, practical solutions, and actionable recommendations produced by the research teams, paving the way for their transformation into initiatives and projects with economic and developmental value, supporting the path of sustainable development in this province and aligning with Oman Vision 2040.
