The sixth Namat competition, organized by the Oman Environment Association in collaboration with the Ministry of Education and supported by Veolia in Oman, was launched during Oman Climate Week, which took place from September 14 to 16, 2026, in Muscat.
Development of the Namat Competition Approach
The Namat competition, as a national program aimed at promoting sustainability, helps students in public schools adopt sustainable practices as part of their daily school life. This sixth edition represents a significant transformation in the program, moving beyond traditional project competitions and emphasizing support for schools in integrating sustainability into their activities and daily culture. The slogan for this edition is "Sustainability is a Lifestyle," aligning with Oman Vision 2040 and national sustainability priorities.

Key Role of Veolia
Suad Al-Harthy, Executive Director of the Oman Environment Association, stated: "Since the inception of Namat, this program has been expanding in scope and impact, continuing to promote environmental awareness and responsibility among youth."
Erwan Roxel, CEO of Veolia Oman, also remarked: "At Veolia, our goal is to become a reference company in ecological transformation. Our experience has shown that while infrastructure and technology are essential, sustainable changes do not happen in isolation. Meaningful changes require education, awareness, and individuals ready to act. That is why Namat closely aligns with our goal, and Veolia values this initiative highly."
This competition is open to all public schools across the Sultanate of Oman that have registered on the competition website, and eligible schools will be selected based on a three-minute video depicting their environmental challenges and practical plans to overcome these challenges. After project implementation, final reports will be evaluated, and the top 50 schools will be presented to the central jury in Muscat, with 10 schools ultimately visited for final assessment.
At the end of this competition, three winners will be announced during a ceremony in Muscat, receiving prizes of 2000 Omani Rials, 1500 Omani Rials, and 1000 Omani Rials, respectively.
