Asiad Drydock, part of the Asiad Group, continues to strengthen its global competitiveness in the marine services and industries sector, having completed 130 projects and attracted 56 new international clients in the first eight months of 2026. This success has increased the company's client base to approximately 900 commercial clients from various global markets.

Growth of Duqm as a Marine Services Hub

These results highlight the growing importance of Duqm as a marine services hub in the Sultanate of Oman, leveraging its specialized infrastructure and facilities to service international vessels and fleets. Its integration with the ports, services, and industries in the Duqm Special Economic Zone has significantly contributed to this growth.

Ahmed bin Ali Al-Balushi, CEO of Asiad Drydock, announced that out of the 130 completed projects, 119 are ship maintenance projects and 11 are industrial projects. He added that nearly 40% of the newly attracted clients since the beginning of this year are from the Middle East and the Far East markets.

New Operational Records

Al-Balushi noted that the company has achieved a new record this year for simultaneous berthing during maintenance work and has conducted 10 simultaneous operations for the first time. This trend has helped increase the efficiency of berth usage and the number of projects that can be executed simultaneously. Additionally, a new operational record has been set with the simultaneous maintenance of 27 vessels, showcasing the technical and operational capabilities of the workforce and the capacity of the facilities.

Al-Balushi explained that the floating dock has significantly enhanced the capabilities of the drydock, enabling the company to work on 13 vessels by the end of August 2026, whereas only two vessels were completed during the same period in 2025.

This growth has not only contributed to the development of the company itself but has also strengthened local content and supported the national business ecosystem. In the first eight months of this year, Asiad Drydock awarded contracts and purchase orders worth 6.5 million Omani Rials to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and 12.5 million Rials to local companies, which constitutes 81% of the total value of awarded contracts.

These results clearly demonstrate the direct impact of the drydock's growth on revitalizing local supply chains and expanding business opportunities for national entities and companies, enhancing the participation of the Omani private sector in the marine services and industries ecosystem. This strengthens Duqm's role as an integrated maritime business hub and increases the sector's share in the local economy.
