The Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones in Oman (OPAZ) has recently signed a new contract for road construction and infrastructure improvement in the Dhofar fishing industries area. This project aims to enhance the readiness of this area to attract industrial investments and provide the necessary road networks and services to support existing facilities and future expansions.
Project Objective
The main objective of this project is to strengthen the food industries and increase the added value of fishing resources in this area. Given the importance of fishing industries for the local and national economy, this project seeks to create suitable and reliable infrastructure for optimal utilization of these resources.
Construction Details
This project includes the construction of an internal road network of ٨.٧ kilometers, one-way roads of ٧.٣ kilometers, and two-way roads of ١.٤ kilometers. Additionally, two roundabouts and the installation of traffic lights and road signs are also included in this plan. These roads are designed to facilitate access to industrial and service sites.
Furthermore, the project includes the construction of sewage networks, drinking water networks, irrigation channels, high and low voltage electricity networks, street lighting systems, and telecommunications channels. These infrastructures are designed to meet the needs of projects and investment facilities in the industrial area.
Importance of Investment in Infrastructure
Investment in infrastructure is one of the key factors for attracting new investments and strengthening local industries. With improved infrastructure, the Dhofar fishing industries area will be better able to face international competition and become one of the main investment destinations in the fisheries sector.
This project will not only help increase added value in food industries but can also lead to job creation and improve the livelihoods of local residents. Given the growing demand for fishery products, creating suitable infrastructure is an unavoidable necessity.
Conclusion
By implementing this project, Oman is moving towards strengthening and developing its fishing industries, which can play an important role in improving the local and national economy. It seems that this initiative could be a turning point in the sustainable development of the Dhofar region.
