Xi Jinping, the President of China, during his recent meeting with Haitham bin Tariq, the Sultan of Oman, in Beijing, stressed the need to prevent the Middle East and the Persian Gulf region from becoming arenas for great power competition and geopolitical conflicts. This meeting took place as China, as one of the major economic and political powers, seeks to strengthen its relations with Arab countries and improve security in the region.

Efforts for Peace and Stability

During this meeting, Xi Jinping expressed hope that the countries in the region would continue their joint efforts to establish peace and stability in the Middle East. He also stated that China has always been active in stopping wars and establishing peace in this region and is ready to provide solutions to security problems.

Strengthening China's Cooperation with Arab Countries

Xi Jinping also emphasized Beijing's readiness to strengthen its communications and coordination with Arab countries, especially the members of the Gulf Cooperation Council. This council includes six countries: Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Oman, and Iran, as one of the important countries in the region, remains a focal point despite not being a member of this council.

The Chinese Foreign Ministry has also announced that Zhai Jun, the special envoy of this country, will visit Iran, Oman, and Saudi Arabia from early to mid-November. This visit aims to address China's concerns about the situation in the Middle East and strengthen relations with the countries in the region.

Economic and Security Implications

China is recognized as one of the largest buyers of oil from Middle Eastern countries, and any tension in relations with these countries could have serious impacts on China's economy as well as on oil-producing countries. Since the Islamic Republic of Iran is striving to avoid affecting its oil exports, this issue could pose challenges for China in securing energy.

Ultimately, China's efforts in this regard demonstrate the country's determination to strengthen relations with Arab countries and maintain stability in the Middle East. These efforts could lead to the formation of a new model of international cooperation in this region that would benefit all parties involved.
