Muscat: The Municipality of Muscat announced that a project at one of the key intersections in the Muscat Governorate is underway, executed by the private sector based on designs and technical approvals issued by the relevant authorities.
Role of the Municipality of Muscat in the Project
The municipality clarified that the project is not directly owned or supervised by it, and its role is limited to oversight and control within its jurisdiction. The municipality collaborates with the relevant authorities to regulate traffic and improve transportation infrastructure in the city.
According to the municipality's explanations, the technical approvals required for private projects are issued by the relevant authorities, and the owner and developer of the project are responsible for its execution. This means that the execution of the project is entirely the responsibility of contractors and specialized consultants.
Technical Challenges in the Implementation Stages
Based on follow-ups, the Municipality of Muscat has identified several technical challenges in the implementation stages of the project. These challenges are particularly related to completing the connections of existing commercial buildings with the existing bridges. Height differences and compatibility between existing and newly constructed elements have also necessitated a review of some technical and operational aspects.
The executing company is currently addressing the technical and construction challenges that have impacted the project's progress. The Municipality of Muscat is coordinating with the developer, project owner, and supervising consultant to review plans, technical requirements, and schedules to address the challenges and find appropriate technical and structural solutions.
The municipality further added that after completing the reviews and coordination among the relevant parties, the project works will resume under an updated execution plan. This new plan ensures that technical requirements, safety standards, and transportation infrastructure needs in the area are met.
