GMF AirAsia, in collaboration with the Civil Aviation Authority of Oman and the global company Makh Aerospace, has signed an agreement that is considered a strategic step towards strengthening Oman's aviation industry. This contract will aid in the localization of technology and increase national capacities in the field of aircraft engineering and maintenance, bringing closer the goals of Oman 2040 and the National Aviation Strategy 2040.

Development of Industrial and Technical Bases in Oman

Dr. Abdullah bin Masoud Al-Harthi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Makh Aerospace, stated that this collaboration will transform the path of Oman's aviation industry. This initiative focuses not only on transportation services but also includes maintenance, repair, and engineering training systems. The main objective of this collaboration is to establish a sustainable industrial and technical base that combines the experiences of GMF AirAsia and the local investments of Makh Aerospace.

This project is also aimed at attracting private sector investments and developing national competencies in areas related to the aviation industry. According to Dr. Al-Harthi, the aircraft wheel and brake maintenance center is considered a vital part of the aviation system, which will lead to cost savings and better efficiency within Oman.

A Bright Future for Training and Skill Development

The Aviation Engineering Academy, which is being established, is designed to train Omani engineers and technicians and aims to operate according to international standards. This academy will tailor educational programs based on labor market needs and maintenance and production projects.

Dr. Al-Harthi also highlighted the importance of the aircraft structures manufacturing project, stating that this project, with up-to-date technological advancements, will create an industrial capacity in Oman. It is expected that this project will take between 12 to 18 months and will require an initial investment of 12.6 million Omani rials (33 million dollars).

Oman, due to its strategic geographical location between Asia, the Middle East, and Africa, is recognized as an attractive place for investment in the aviation industries. With advanced infrastructure and a sustainable investment environment, it can become a pivotal point in the development of the aviation industry.

Ultimately, this project not only helps meet local needs but also leads to the export of aviation services and products from Oman. The ultimate goal of this collaboration is to transform Oman into a reputable center in the regional and global aviation industry.
