In a conversation with Abbas Araqchi, Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister, Egypt's Foreign Minister emphasized the importance of restraint from all parties and called for a wise approach to achieve political solutions in the region. He warned that continued tensions expose the region to great dangers that can only be prevented through dialogue and diplomacy.

Egypt's Security Message to Tehran

Abdul Aati directly informed Tehran during this phone call that the security of Gulf countries is an inseparable part of Egypt's national security and that of the Arab world, and it is a special priority for Cairo. This call came after statements made by Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, the President of Egypt, during a joint press conference in Cairo. El-Sisi referred to the disastrous consequences of any non-political solution in the region and the world, urging the United States and Iran to give dialogue and understanding a chance before reaching a point of no return.

Egypt's Diplomatic Efforts to Contain Tensions

He also referred to the heavy humanitarian and economic consequences of resuming military operations and expressed hope that the United States would support diplomatic efforts by mediators. In this regard, intensive consultations have been conducted by Cairo with Arab countries. Over the past two days, Egypt's Foreign Minister has made multiple phone calls with the foreign ministers of Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Iraq, Jordan, and Kuwait to coordinate Arab countries' positions to address the tensions.

In discussions with his Saudi counterpart, Abdul Aati emphasized the need to prioritize diplomacy and declared Egypt's firm opposition to any threats against the security of Saudi Arabia and Gulf countries. He also discussed ways to encourage both sides to be flexible and allow sufficient time for the negotiation process in conversations with the Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, who plays a mediating role between Washington and Tehran.

Egypt's consultations with the foreign ministers of Oman, Iraq, Jordan, and Kuwait also emphasized the necessity of containing the crisis and preventing the escalation of conflicts. Additionally, ensuring security and freedom of navigation in international waterways and strengthening bilateral cooperation were other important aspects of these negotiations. These efforts demonstrate Cairo's determination to maintain stability and security in the region and prevent the occurrence of new crises.
