The Oman Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization (Riada), along with the Duqm Special Economic Zone, discussed and reviewed strategies for developing local suppliers and preparing them to benefit from investment and contracting opportunities with large companies based in this area.
Familiarization Meeting with the Supplier Development Center
This meeting, held today in the Duqm governorate, was attended by several active companies in the area to introduce the role and operational mechanism of the Supplier Development Center. The goal of this meeting was to strengthen the connection between small and medium enterprises and large companies to increase their participation in supply chains, contracts, and the provision of goods.
During this meeting, mechanisms for identifying existing business and contracting opportunities for small and medium enterprises were discussed and reviewed. Additionally, emphasis was placed on creating, updating, and linking a unified database of local suppliers with the needs of companies based in the region, which will help align the capabilities and capacities of institutions with available opportunities.
Programs and Initiatives for the Development of Local Suppliers
Furthermore, this meeting addressed programs and initiatives that assist in the development and improvement of local suppliers' quality. These programs include enhancing the technical, administrative, and operational readiness of suppliers, as well as strengthening their competitiveness to capitalize on economic and investment opportunities in the Duqm Special Economic Zone.
Through this collaboration, the Oman Small and Medium Enterprises Development Organization aims to increase local content, provide access for small and medium enterprises to business opportunities, and create sustainable partnerships with large companies. These actions will, in turn, support the growth and development of these businesses and increase their participation in the economic development process.
