India has been recognized as a country with the strongest economic growth outlook among the countries participating in the World Economic Forum survey. According to the recent report from this forum, 74% of senior economists have predicted that India's economic growth will be strong or very strong in the next 12 months, a significant increase from 52% in May.

Positive Forecasts for India's Economic Growth

More than 98% of economists participating in this survey expect India to experience average or higher growth in the coming year. The growth forecast for 2026-27 has also increased to 6.7% in August. This positive outlook is due to sustained domestic demand and the country's economic strength, although high energy prices continue to be recognized as a barrier.

Comparison with Other Major Economies

This assessment places India in a superior position compared to other major economies in this survey. In Southeast Asia, 73% of economists expect strong or very strong growth, while 31% of economists predict weak growth for China. Europe is also recognized as the weakest region, with 61% expecting weak or very weak growth.

The report also refers to the global economic outlook, which appears to be generally more stable. Only 45% of senior economists expect global economic conditions to weaken in the next 12 months, a significant decrease from 89% in May. Additionally, 56% expect the economic outlook to remain stable or strengthen.

However, significant risks remain. 97% of respondents identified geopolitical conflicts as a major source of global economic uncertainty in the coming year. Furthermore, 78% of economists believe that economic resilience depends on economic diversity and flexible supply chains.

Financial support, which has been recognized as a primary source of resilience since 2020, has decreased to 28% in upcoming assessments as governments face greater financial constraints. The report also highlights the significant resilience of the global economy against successive shocks and warns that more adaptation will be needed to maintain this resilience in the future.
