India, announcing a GDP growth of 7.8% in the first quarter of the fiscal year 2026-2027, is looking to expand its investment programs with Kuwait. "Shubha Tripathi," the Indian ambassador to Kuwait, referenced India's capabilities in strategic technologies during her recent press conference and emphasized the importance of economic cooperation between the two countries.

Cultural Programs to Mark 65 Years of Diplomatic Relations

The Indian ambassador announced the preparation of several cultural events in the coming months to celebrate the 65th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Kuwait. Programs including a photo exhibition, concert, and food festival are scheduled before the start of Ramadan. Although no high-level visits are specifically planned for this anniversary, discussions about future exchanges continue, and specific dates have yet to be confirmed.

Growth of the Indian Community in Kuwait and Emphasis on Security

The Indian ambassador also pointed to the growth of the Indian community in Kuwait, which, as the largest expatriate community in the country, increased from 1,059,179 people in 2025 to about 1.069 million in 2026. She described this increase as a pleasant surprise and, while welcoming ongoing employment in key sectors such as nursing and technical services, emphasized that the main focus of the Indian embassy is on the security and welfare of the community, not just numerical growth.

Diwali Celebration at the Indian House

As part of efforts to celebrate the cultural ties between the two countries, the Indian embassy will hold a Diwali celebration at the Indian House. Shubha Tripathi stated, "Both cultural traditions were inscribed in UNESCO's list of intangible cultural heritage last year. Therefore, I thought we should celebrate these two countries together." This event, which will combine India's New Year with traditional Kuwaiti hospitality, will take place on November 2 for men and on November 3 specifically for women.
