Kuwait's Ministry of Oil has launched the fifth edition of the 'Innovation in Oil' Award in collaboration with the Sabah Al-Ahmad Center for Elites and Creativity. This award is designed to identify practical ideas and projects that address existing challenges in the oil and gas sector.

Entrepreneurship and Innovation Development

Sheikha Tamader Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Director of Public Relations and Media at the Ministry of Oil, stated in a statement that this new edition is based on the success of the previous four editions and reflects the Ministry of Oil's commitment to a culture of innovation and creating more opportunities for Kuwaiti inventors and entrepreneurs.

This edition will have two main axes: energy and artificial intelligence in the oil and gas sector. The energy axis seeks ideas that help improve energy production and consumption in oil operations. This includes optimizing energy consumption, utilizing renewable energy, and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Artificial Intelligence Axis and Project Review

The artificial intelligence axis focuses on the use of artificial intelligence technologies and data analysis to improve the performance and safety of operations. This includes predictive maintenance of equipment, enhancing reservoir performance, and early detection of pipeline leaks.

Sheikha Tamader further added that these areas are just examples, and other ideas are welcome as long as they fall under one of the two axes and serve the oil and gas sector.

A dedicated website for the fifth edition of the award will accept online registrations starting from November 1, 2026. This website will include all details related to the award, including its axes, terms and conditions, evaluation criteria, and prizes.

The award is open to Kuwaiti citizens over 21 years old, including engineers, specialists, graduates, and entrepreneurs. They can participate individually or in teams of two to five members. Ideas, designs, and prototypes will be accepted, and a specialized committee will judge them based on six criteria.

The top three ideas will be honored at the award's closing ceremony in January 2027 under the patronage of Minister of Oil Tareq Al-Roumi.
