As the second half began, the Bahrain team attempted to close the gap and managed to win the third quarter 21-17. However, the Iranian national team maintained their composure and focus, achieving a tie of 19-19 in the final quarter and ultimately winning with a total score of 79-74.
Mohammad Jamshidi scored 20 points, earning the title of Iran's top scorer in this match, while Mehdi Heydari contributed significantly with 19 points. Arsalan Kazemi was another impactful player for Iran, recording 11 rebounds and 10 assists, achieving a double-double and helping the team secure victory in this match.
Iran's National Basketball Team's Journey in This Competition
Before reaching this stage, Iran's national basketball team finished the group stage with two victories against Chinese Taipei and Jordan, and one loss to Qatar. This performance allowed Iran to advance to the quarterfinals as the top team in Group B. Bahrain also reached the knockout stage as the second team in Group C after winning against the Philippines and Kazakhstan and losing to China.
Iran's next opponent in the semifinals will be South Korea, who defeated Jordan 114-80 in the quarterfinals. Iran's national basketball team did not reach the semifinals in the previous Asian Games, and now in Nagoya, they will strive to reach the finals.
