Increasing Tensions in the Region
The Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia have increased in recent days following the Yemen war. This group has once again drawn attention by targeting Riyadh airport and Aramco facilities. Additionally, Iranian-affiliated militias in Iraq have continued their attacks against Saudi Arabia since the onset of the war between the U.S., Israel, and Iran in February.
The Prime Minister of Iraq expressed concern over this situation, highlighting the importance of regional cooperation to counter threats and emphasized the need to strengthen security and stability in the region. These discussions follow Baghdad's efforts to reduce tensions and increase security cooperation with neighboring countries, primarily Saudi Arabia.
At the end of this meeting, both sides agreed to maintain continuous communication and strengthen security and intelligence cooperation to address common threats.
