Kuwait and Turkey continue their commitment to strengthening their strategic partnership and expanding cooperation in several areas, including defense, health, tourism, agriculture, and trade. This was stated by Turkey's newly appointed ambassador to Kuwait, Can Oğuz, at a ceremony marking the 103rd anniversary of the founding of the Republic of Turkey at the St. Regis Hotel.

Foundations of Strategic Partnership

The Turkish ambassador to Kuwait emphasized that elevating the relations between the two countries to the level of strategic partnership is a significant milestone and is based on three main pillars: close friendship and mutual trust between the leaders of the two countries, institutional cooperation strengthened through a strategic dialogue mechanism, and long-standing bonds of friendship and solidarity between the people of Kuwait and Turkey.

Defense and Economic Cooperation

Regarding defense cooperation, Oğuz referred to Kuwait's purchase of Bayraktar TB2 drones and considered it the beginning of a new chapter in military relations between the two countries. He also emphasized Turkey's solidarity with Kuwait against regional security challenges and recalled that Ankara has strongly condemned attacks against Kuwait and expressed its practical support for Kuwait's security and defense.

Oğuz also mentioned economic relations and highlighted the role of Turkish companies in Kuwait's development and the increasing interest of Kuwaiti investors in Turkey. The ongoing construction of Terminal 2 at Kuwait International Airport by the Turkish company Limak was presented as an example of this economic partnership, noting that this project will enhance connectivity and strengthen Kuwait's position as a regional and international aviation hub.

In conclusion, Oğuz paid tribute to the founder of the Republic of Turkey, Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, and emphasized the country's commitment to sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity. He referenced Atatürk's guiding principle, "Peace at Home, Peace in the World," describing it as a sustainable foundation for Turkey's approach to international relations.

The Turkish ambassador to Kuwait expressed confidence that the two countries will continue their cooperation to achieve a stronger and more prosperous future, stating: "For Turkey and Kuwait, the only way forward is progress." At this ceremony, the Minister of Social Affairs, Family, and Children, Dr. Amal Hadi Al-Huwail, attended as a special guest, along with senior Kuwaiti officials, members of the diplomatic corps, business representatives, and members of the Turkish community.
