Kuwait was praised by Poland during a ceremony for its National Independence Day. Michał Cholewa, the Polish ambassador to Kuwait, acknowledged Kuwait's resilience in the face of regional challenges and emphasized Poland's full support for Kuwait's peaceful diplomacy.
Praise for Kuwait's Diplomacy
The Polish ambassador stated: "Poland respects Kuwait's resilience. We honor your defenders and stand fully in support of you. Kuwait's balanced and calm diplomacy is a true guiding light. Poland deeply respects your vision."
Military and Educational Cooperation
Cholewa also referred to military cooperation between the two countries and mentioned the graduation of 25 Kuwaiti officers from the Polish Naval Academy in Gdynia, who graduated in August of this year. These officers from the Kuwaiti Armed Forces have completed an advanced one-year training course at this academy. Additionally, Kuwaiti students returned to the four-year academic program at this academy in September 2025. According to the Polish embassy, nearly 40 Kuwaiti military personnel were studying in Gdynia, Poland, in 2026.
The Polish ambassador thanked the officials of the Kuwaiti Ministry of Defense and the graduating officers for their trust in Poland's military expertise.
Poland and Kuwait established diplomatic relations on May 13, 1963, and signed economic, technical, and cultural agreements in 1975 and 1982. The two countries have consistently maintained high-level political contacts, and the Polish ambassador referred to meetings between Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah, the Crown Prince of Kuwait, and the President of Poland, as well as discussions between the foreign ministers of the two countries in Ankara and the fifth round of political consultations held in Warsaw this year.
Cholewa also pointed to Poland's economic growth and the country's expanding international role, stating that Poland's participation in the G20 reflects its economic strength, reliability, and innovation. The Polish ambassador emphasized the need to expand people-to-people connections between the two countries and noted the increase in Kuwaiti travel to Poland. He introduced direct flights to Krakow as an important link between the two countries and welcomed plans for additional flights in the winter season.
He said: "Kuwaitis have become interested in Poland's historical beauty, unique culture, and stunning nature."
