Development of Skills and Sports Opportunities
The third edition of this program is designed based on the successes of previous editions, allowing participants with disabilities to experience sailing and develop their technical and personal skills. This program provides an educational pathway that enables them to reach advanced levels and participate in local and international competitions.
In this new edition, the program focuses on developing sailing skills and nurturing essential life skills such as teamwork, leadership, self-confidence, and independence in a safe educational environment tailored to the participants' needs. The goal of this program is also to promote equal opportunities and showcase their abilities and talents in the sports arena.
Positive Impacts of the 'Sail Free' Program
Since the launch of this program in 2019, 'Sail Free' has given hundreds of individuals with disabilities the opportunity to enter the world of sailing, develop their sports and personal capabilities, and contribute to the establishment of the first national para sailing team. This program has also enabled participants to compete in local and international events.
The presence of this program in international competitions will be strengthened by the hosting of the first World Para Sailing Championships in 2025 by Oman Sail at the Musannah Sailing School. This event will include sailors from the 'Sail Free' program and over 100 sailors from around the world, allowing participants to experience global competition for the first time.
