Oman's Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Investment Promotion has updated the payment mechanism for several services offered through the Oman business platform. This change allows stakeholders to submit their requests by paying a nominal fee and settle the remaining costs after completing the application procedures.

Facilitating Processes for Investors

This update includes commercial registration services and commercial representation services and is part of the ministry's efforts to streamline processes, develop digital government services, and provide a flexible and efficient experience for investors and business owners.

Mubarak bin Mohammed Al-Dhahani, Director General of Planning and Official Spokesperson for the Ministry, stated that this update is part of an ongoing program to redesign services based on the needs of investors and employers. He noted that the ministry's approach to digital transformation initially focuses on simplifying processes and then on using digital solutions to deliver services efficiently and sustainably.

Increasing Use of Digital Services

Al-Dhahani added that the ministry is continuously reviewing stakeholder pathways, reducing steps and requirements, and enhancing electronic integration among relevant entities, which helps improve the ease of doing business and the competitiveness of Oman's business environment.

Data from the Oman business platform indicates continuous growth in the use of digital services, with 963,549 transactions conducted through this platform from the beginning of the year until the end of September 2026. During this period, 35,907 new commercial registrations were issued, bringing the total number of commercial registrations to 470,516.

Hamid bin Hamad Al-Barashi, Head of Documentation and Verification at the Commercial Registration Secretariat and a member of the Ministry's digital transformation team, stated that the updated payment mechanism was designed after reviewing the stakeholder pathways for commercial registration and commercial representation services. He emphasized that this new mechanism allows stakeholders to initiate their transactions without paying the full fees in advance, only requiring a nominal fee at the time of application submission to complete the other steps.

Al-Barashi noted that the ministry will continue to develop and improve services on the Oman business platform, reducing manual interventions and increasing the speed of transactions and the quality of services for investors and business owners through expanded automation and automated licensing.
