Omar Al-Omar, Minister of State for Communications and Information Technology and Minister of State for Information and Culture of Bahrain, emphasized the importance of strengthening cultural relations among the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries as a common priority on Thursday. He stated that these close relations could reinforce the shared cultural identity of the Gulf and strengthen solidarity so that the countries of the region can collectively face the challenges ahead.
The Necessity of Solidarity Against Challenges
Al-Omar, referring to recent attacks against the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, stressed the need for greater unity and solidarity in the face of common challenges. He said: "These attacks highlight the necessity of strengthening Gulf unity, and we must stand together to effectively confront threats."
Establishing a Shared Cultural Identity
The Bahraini minister also emphasized that cultural relations and interactions among the people of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries are the foundation for strengthening brotherly ties and awareness of the shared Gulf identity. He pointed to the importance of holding cultural meetings and exchanging experiences, stating: "We must collaborate to create opportunities for cultural exchange so that we can achieve a better understanding of each other and strengthen our shared identity."
He thanked Bahrain for hosting this meeting and praised the role of the General Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council in following up on decisions and coordinating among member countries. According to him, these collaborations can help strengthen relations among the countries of the region and enhance cultural solidarity.
In conclusion, Al-Omar noted that the Gulf countries should act as a family and come closer together through strengthening cultural relations. He also emphasized the need to pay attention to the youth and provide more opportunities for cultural and artistic exchange among younger generations.
