The Research and Innovation Organization attended the fourth edition of the Global Medical Biotechnology Summit held in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh. This summit, titled "Creating Infrastructure for Excellence in Medical Biotechnology," addressed global challenges and achievements in the field of biotechnology.
Review of the National Biotechnology Strategy Project
The participation of the Research and Innovation Organization included discussions and exchanges regarding the preparation project for the national biotechnology strategy. These discussions focused on the main global challenges and existing achievements in the biotechnology sector, particularly in the areas of artificial intelligence applications and governance, as well as attracting investments in the pharmaceutical, medical sciences, and space research industries.

Presentation of a Working Paper Titled "Capabilities and Future Leadership"
At the summit, the organization presented a working paper titled "Capabilities and Future Leadership," which examined the mechanisms for building competencies and the most important leadership roles in the biotechnology sector. This paper identified capabilities that could impact the growth of this sector and reviewed technical, commercial, regulatory, production, digital, and leadership needs.
The participation of the Research and Innovation Organization in this summit aimed to strengthen existing collaborations between the committees related to the regulation of biotechnology uses and products and the protection of genetic data in the Sultanate of Oman and their counterparts in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This initiative contributes to the development of research and innovation fields and supports a knowledge-based economy.
