The Saudi Pro League (SPL) has postponed three matches following the escalation of conflicts with the Houthis. This decision was made in light of increased tensions and missile attacks on various cities in Saudi Arabia.

Details of the Match Postponements

The matches of the ninth week of the league have been postponed due to "logistical considerations and taking into account the minimum rest period between matches." According to SPL, the match between the leading teams Al-Hilal and Al-Riyadh, as well as the match between Al-Ittihad and Al-Shabab, has been rescheduled to December 19. Additionally, the match between Al-Ahli and Al-Nassr, in which Cristiano Ronaldo will play, has been changed to March 6, 2027.

Insecure Situation in Saudi Arabia

On Monday, Al-Nassr's match in the AFC Champions League against FC Navbahor from Uzbekistan was also delayed by an hour due to Houthi missile attacks on Riyadh. The Saudi-led coalition announced that it managed to intercept a missile that was fired towards the capital.

In recent days, clashes between the Saudi coalition and the Houthis have intensified. Missile attacks on airports and energy facilities across the country have raised significant concerns among the public and officials. The latest round of clashes began with Houthi attacks on Riyadh International Airport last weekend, resulting in the deaths of 13 people and the suspension of operations at the airport.

The recent attacks are considered the worst assault on Saudi Arabia since 2015 and reflect the complex and dangerous situation in the region. This situation has not only impacted the daily lives of people but has also cast a shadow over sports and cultural activities.

In light of these developments, the Saudi football league has decided to hold other matches of the ninth week as per the original schedule. This decision reflects the league officials' efforts to continue sports activities in critical conditions.
