QatarEnergy stated in a statement that these contracts will strengthen and expand the company's position in Brazil's upstream sector, with concession contracts expected to be signed in the first half of 2027.
QatarEnergy's Role in the Brazilian Energy Market
The Minister of Energy of Qatar and President and CEO of QatarEnergy, Saad Sherida Al Kaabi, stated that these agreements will add new areas to the company's upstream portfolio in Brazil. He also thanked Petrobras for their close cooperation and the valuable support from Brazilian officials, expressing hope that this collaboration will be strengthened in the future.
QatarEnergy has previously been active in the Brazilian energy market, holding a 21% stake in the Sépia field, which is being developed in partnership with Petrobras, TotalEnergies, and Petronas. The second phase of development for this field includes an FPSO unit with a daily production capacity of 225,000 barrels of oil and a daily processing capacity of 10 million cubic meters of gas.
These successes demonstrate QatarEnergy's commitment to expanding its activities in international markets, particularly in Brazil. Given the country's rich energy resources, the collaboration between QatarEnergy and Petrobras could lead to increased production and efficiency in the oil and gas industry.
